I have been teaching in USD #244 for 20 years. 11 of those years were at the fifth grade level. I then taught one year at the third grade level before moving up to fourth grade. I have been there ever since. I love teaching, and am very passionate about getting my students engaged in reading. In fourth grade we are departmentalized so I teach all of the Reading and other English Language Arts curriculum, Social Studies, and some Technology skills. I have three hours of Reading throughout the day.
I started my student teaching in 1992 with Mrs. Elmarie Scharff in second grade at Burlington Elementary School. The substituted K-12 for USD #244 for four years as well as the Melvern-Quenomo district, #243, and #245. It kept me busy, and I loved being in the schools. During this time, I also, taught GED through Allen County Community College for three years. This is what helped me pinpoint how important reading skills are for everyone.
I am married to Mr. Craig Kuhlmann, Assistanct Director of Technology for our district. We have three children; Samantha, Keegan, and Sage, and grandchildren.
When I am not teaching or at school, I am an avid reader. Books are definitely a passion for me. I can be found at my grandchildren’s activities, so they keep me busy. I am, also, very family oriented so we spend quite a bit of time with my mom and Craig’s parents. During the summer time, I like to garden. I find it very relaxing.
